MEET MCC SCHOOL THERAPY DOG, VIOLET, WHO SUPPORTS THE CHILDREN OF ST PAUL'S SCHOOL, CORK
"My name is Violet. I am the much loved St. Paul’s School therapy dog. Violet came too St. Paul’s as a puppy and is still training with My Canine Companion.
Violet has helped in so many ways since beginning her journey without even knowing. She’s sweet & loving. Always kind & caring. Down to a simple greet in the corridor, to daily activities with the children.
She has calmed different situations in classes just with her calmness & presence alone. She has comforted children who are upset, who just forget by her touch & presence. She has even recognised a seizure in a child before it happened by trying to alert staff & pacing beside the child.
She has taking part in all parts of the school day including art, relaxation, group/individual walks, lamb choir, trips out & lots of drama!!
We are forever grateful to My Canine Companion for this amazing opportunity & all the help & support they continue to give us. St. Paul’s just wouldnt be the same without Violet, our very own super hero "
My Canine Companion introduced Ireland's first school therapy programme, and our school therapy dogs, like Violet, are now supporting children in schools nationwide!!
