2014 West Cork Emergency Services and Friends Charity Cycle

Now in it’s 11th year and over 350 euros raised for the charity the West Cork Emergency Services and Friends Charity Cycle will take place on Saturday, July 12th.

The cycle will begin as usual in Skibbereen Fire Station and will then head towards the town of Bantry for its first official stop. On leaving Bantry cyclists will travel to Durrus and enjoy the breathtaking views of Dunmanus Bay before heading up over Mount Gabriel and on to Schull for the second stop.

The final leg will bring all cyclists back to Skibbereen for the customary Barbecue at Skibbereen Fire Station. There will be an after party social again in Skibbereen town to finish off the night.

          Beneficiaries this year include

Union Hall RNLI, My Canine Companion, Skibbereen Special Olympics Team, Baltimore Community Swimming Pool and Aughadown Community Group.

This very successful junior cycle that took place last year will take place again on the eve of the main cycle. Further details of this event will be available on our website and local press closer to the event.

The organising committee which consists of Garry Minihane, Tony Walsh, George Lane, Dick Roycroft, Seamus O’Mahony and Jim Keane would like thank everyone who has supported the event over the last 10 years and advise people that this is a fun cycle not a race and cyclists are encouraged to take their time on the day and enjoy the social aspect of the event.
